PhpED Version 22.0 truly delivers for PHP developers. The headline addition is a brand-new PHP Performance Explorer — a modern sampling profiler that finally answers the question "where is my code spending its time?" with the kind of clarity and visual depth PHP developers have been missing for years.
On top of that, the PHP Editor/IDE now supports PHP 8.4 and all previous versions, extends its support for popular PHP Frameworks to include Laravel 10.x and 11.x, and Symfony 6.x and 7.x, and improves debugger integration with newer releases of phpUnit.
Cascading debugger evaluation tooltips remain a favorite: they are fast on data of any size, persistent, and updated on the fly while you step through code. Combined with PhpED's traditional strengths — rock-solid PHP Debugger and lightning-fast Intellisense — v22 is a substantial step forward.

 New PHP Performance Explorer. The profiler in v22 has been rebuilt from the ground up as a sampling profiler with a rich, interactive UI based on the Firefox Profiler engine and reworked to natively support PHP. It captures call stacks at regular intervals and presents them through a synchronized timeline, Call Tree, Flame Graph and Stack Chart, so you can move from "it feels slow" to "function X accounts for 40% of the time" in seconds. Updated framework support. Support for popular PHP Frameworks has been extended to include Laravel 10.x and 11.x, and Symfony 6.x and 7.x. Navigation through Model-View-Controller, code completion, find declaration and tooltips all work seamlessly across these versions.
Updated phpUnit integration. The debugger and test runner have been updated to support the newer versions of phpUnit, both for local runs and for remote projects. Code Coverage reports continue to show how well your code base is tested.
Refreshed code insight definitions. Built-in definitions for PHP functions and classes from popular extensions have been updated, so Intellisense, tooltips and parameter hints stay accurate against current PHP versions and third-party libraries.
Cascading debugger evaluation tooltips. Instead of fetching and rendering large arrays or classes in full, the debugger shows only the part you care about — quickly. The tooltips stay open as you keep stepping through the code and update on the fly to reflect current values. Classic tooltips remain available as an option.
Smarter Intellisense. Code completion warns about deprecated and removed functions and classes from standard PHP extensions, as well as from third-party frameworks that use the corresponding PHPDoc tags.
Hardened security stack. The PHP Debugger and built-in SSH client rely on the actively maintained OpenSSL 3.0 crypto library, with TLS 1.3 support and client, server and mutual authentication using custom SSL certificates.
Updated 3rd-party libraries. PhpED v22 ships with refreshed versions of OpenSSL, ldns, zlib, expat, SQLite and other libraries, along with an updated Chrome-based built-in browser.
Improved performance. The IDE itself is noticeably faster — from project loading and indexing to code completion and editor responsiveness on large code bases.
